Sterling & Stone Digest #3

(Week of September 28th – October 3rd)

This week was really rocking for Sterling & Stone. I personally got A LOT of work done, and things are starting to get back in line on the site as a whole. On top of that, the blog this week put out some really fantastic posts.

Yes, as you can see by the featured image, we focused a lot on Lexi this week, but our weekly series were all there as well, like Nuts & Bolts, SPP, BOU, and our three current serials.

So much to read, so little time! Let’s dig into the highlights!

Authorpreneur’s Almanac #9
This week we posted our live chat about last week’s Almanac (the one with the amazing keynote Sean did about Social Media 2.0). We didn’t stay on topic the entire time, but I think the information we covered was thoroughly excellent and well worth watching for anyone wanting to make their business grow socially.

Remember, you won’t be able to see the meat of this post (the video itself) if you’re not a Sterling & Stone Starter.

Authorpreneur Nuts & Bolts #2
This week is still very much in introduction mode, so if you’re like me and chomping at the bit to get to the real juicy stuff promised in this course, you’ll have to wait at least one more week. That said, this video was excellent for beginners because it listed some of the MUST-HAVE resources about self publishing.

If you’re not already familiar with most of the resources outlined by Garrett here, you’ll definitely want to get familiar with them PRONTO.

The Lexi Maxxwell Story
This week, we talked a lot about Lexi Maxxwell, as part of the launch of her new book, “Together Apart.” This first Lexi-rific post is Johnny telling us Lexi’s story as a writer and as an imprint on Sterling & Stone. If you’ve been on the fence about reading Lexi’s stuff, you should absolutely read this post before making your final decision.

ForNevermore Part 10
In this week’s chapter, Noella gets into Sam’s old house to babysit the new girl that lives there. Of course, she really wants to know if Dante is somehow there, too. What she learns is overwhelming!

Together Apart: An Author’s Note
Continuing with the Lexi theme, we give you her Author’s Note for Together Apart. If you’re a Platinum Reader, you can get this book now from the Member’s Area. (If not, you really should join now and get all the cool stuff we’re throwing at our True Fans all the time!)

Lexi’s Author’s Note tells the story of Together Apart’s cover. More than that, it shows us the tender relationship between author and story. I cried while reading. You probably won’t, but I’m sure you’ll enjoy it just as much!

Why Indie Authors Should Attend Live Events (SPP #126)
This week’s episode didn’t have any guests. Instead, the guys discussed how meaningful live events, such as the recent Worldbuilder’s Summit in Austin, can be to an indie author. The arguments are sound and motivating. When I finished listening, I couldn’t wait to go to some kind of event, just to hang out with other creatives! Want to know what they said? Give the show a listen!

Together Apart: An Excerpt
After the Lexi story post and the author’s note, you’ve likely already decided to either give Together Apart a try or not. If, by some chance, you’re still on the fence, you should check out this excerpt. It just might push you over. The story reads like a Realm & Sands book, just without the unicorns and robots. The excerpt is emotional and intense, a good sign for the rest of the book.

Robot Proletariat Part 3
This week, the Montgomery family have guests in the Manor, but not everything happens the way it should. You seriously need to be reading this. It’s a blast!

Yesterday’s Gone Season 5 is HERE!
Yesterday’s Gone just might be the best thing since grated cheese, and it’s getting ever more exciting to see the series getting nearer to next year’s finale. I personally haven’t jumped on the YG train yet (I’m slow like that), but just reading the description has my curiosity counter clicking into the red!

8 Questions with Lexi Maxxwell
If you’re not sick of Lexi yet, you’ll definitely want to read her 8 Questions interview. Get a bit of a peek behind the curtain, so to speak, and learn more about the girl behind the name.

Better Off Undead #101 – Sunshine and Death
Mark this date on you calendar; BOU has become something else entirely! This weeks episode was hysterical, but it was also something else. It was… pensive. The guys reflected on the effects of the Summit, as well as how it was to get back home. By the end, I mysteriously felt like crying like a little baby and reaching through the interwebs and giving Dave a big, fat hug. Listen to the show and maybe you will too!

Space Shuttle Part 5
If you’re not reading this, what’s wrong with you? Seriously, this is a work of art! This week: We meet our first Xenomorph!

Indie Fiction Podcast
This week’s episodes were really amazing. Here are a few teaser highlights: Hazel gets a secret assignment, and then confronts her father. Scott has an emergency meeting with Sandra. Hazel discovers something new about herself. Scott talks with his kids about leaving or staying. Hudson gets a tantalizing invitation. Hazel has a disturbing dream, and then encounters her mother!

Looking Forward: Next Week
Next week, there’s a lot to look forward to. First, later this morning, we’ll get a special invitation from Sean in this week’s Almanac. Of course, we’ll get all the regulars, like SPP and our three serials (BOU will be taking the week off). And, we’ll be talking more about Lexi. What’s the next big Lexi release you won’t want to miss? You’ll have to keep reading the Sterling & Stone blog to find out!
